A subscript generator turns characters into their lowered Unicode equivalents — the ones that sit below the baseline, as in H₂O or CO₂. All ten digits convert, which is why chemical formulas work perfectly, and because these are real characters rather than formatting they paste into chat, bios, spreadsheet cells and code comments where no subscript button exists. Be aware before you start: the letter coverage has real gaps, explained below.

Subscript has the weakest character coverage of any 'small text' style in Unicode, and knowing the shape of the gap saves a lot of confusion.
What always works: all ten digits (₀₁₂₃₄₅₆₇₈₉) plus + − = ( ). This is why chemistry is the natural fit — H₂O, CO₂, C₆H₁₂O₆ all convert cleanly, because the parts that need lowering are digits.
What is missing: b, c, d, f, g, q, w, y and z have no subscript form at all — nine of the twenty-six letters. Type 'Hello World' and you get ₕₑₗₗₒ Wₒᵣₗd: the W and the d stay full size because lowered versions of them do not exist.
The reason is that these characters were encoded for phonetic and mathematical notation, where only certain letters were ever needed below the line. It was never intended as a complete alphabet, so no tool can fill the gap — the characters simply are not there. For styling whole words, use small capitals instead, which cover all 26 letters.
Rendering-wise the digits are old and safe everywhere; some of the rarer lowered letters were added later and can show as boxes on older devices.
It is worth being direct about this, because every subscript tool hits the same wall and most of them say nothing.
b, c, d, f, g, q, w, y, z have no lowered form in Unicode. Not in this tool, not in any tool — the characters were never encoded. Anything claiming otherwise is either substituting look-alike symbols from unrelated blocks or quietly leaving the letters full size.
The set exists because phoneticians and mathematicians needed particular letters below the line, and those are the ones that got encoded. Completing the alphabet was never the goal.
