FROM: D. (house line, Violence District) RE: the thing Big Sis — Got something. Took three weeks and four hundred of the house money, so I hope you appreciate me. Word came back through two hands, so take it how you like. There's a freight contractor running a route out in the dead systems, name of Corwin Rax, works a Planetary Coalition subcontract. His outfit logged a man through their dock district about six weeks back. Purple coat, fur lining. Paid cash for a private berth. Never used it. Paid, logged in, and then nothing. No departure, no cancellation, no nothing. Rax's crew will know which of them handled it. Rax himself, I'd guess — by all accounts he's the sort who likes to be the one who knows things. His route's on a mining city called Extractor-7. Nine weeks into a dead zone, so they're not exactly turning people away at the dock. Nobody's checking much of anything. He drinks in a place on the fourth level called the Tailings. Everyone on that city knows who he is. Nobody seems to like him, which should make this easy enough. Be careful. I know you won't. Come back anyway. — D.
