Create a finished, small landscape Christmas cracker joke slip, in a 3:2 aspect ratio, with generous safe margins so every word and the illustration remain clear when printed and cut apart. Use a warm, playful mid-century gouache illustration style: softly textured cream paper, confident rounded shapes, deep evergreen and holly red accents, and warm golden firelight. Give the card a fine, understated red border; keep the design bright, clean, and family-friendly. Set the exact joke text, with no additional words anywhere: Setup, smaller but clearly readable, at upper left: “Why does Santa go down the chimney?” Punchline, directly below and much larger and bolder: “Because it soots him!” Preserve spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and wording exactly. Make the punchline the unmistakable typographic hero. Use custom lettering: broad, friendly, rounded hand-drawn sans-serif forms, sturdy strokes, open counters, close but clear spacing; warm ivory fill with a subtle deep evergreen outline and a small soft shadow for legibility. Keep the setup in dark evergreen. Compose as two clear zones. The left 60% is reserved for the joke, with both lines left-aligned and separated by comfortable breathing room. The right 34% holds one simple picture, kept entirely away from the text: Santa popping cheerfully out of a red-brick fireplace, his face and white beard smudged with soft charcoal soot, a little soot puff by his hat, amused expression. Show a small warm fire below and just a hint of evergreen garland above the mantel—no other Christmas motifs. Keep the illustration compact and readable at small print size. Warm firelight highlights Santa and the brick; soft shadows and the cream ground keep the card cozy. No extra captions, labels, lettering, or decorative text.
