Mirror and reverse text split into two very different technical approaches, and that difference decides whether someone sees your styled text or a row of empty boxes ("tofu").
Backwards (high compatibility): this style only reverses the order of standard Latin characters. Every device that can show normal English text renders it correctly, because the individual characters are plain A–Z letters, just reordered.
Mirror and Upside Down (risky): these substitute each letter with a different Unicode character that *looks* like a flipped or rotated version — Mirror flips horizontally and reverses the reading order, Upside Down rotates 180°. The substitute glyphs are scattered across obscure ranges (Latin Extended, IPA Extensions, Phonetic Extensions, Cyrillic). Older Android builds, budget devices and some apps ship system fonts without those code points, so they render as □ boxes. A few letters have no accepted flipped form at all and fall back to the closest lookalike.
Fullwidth and Aesthetic Spaced (medium/risky): fullwidth characters live in the Unicode CJK Compatibility block (U+FF01–U+FF60) and are well supported on modern phones because CJK fonts are widely bundled. Aesthetic Spaced inserts special spacing characters that some strict platforms — certain game name fields — strip or collapse.
