About Edo Moji AI font
Edo Moji is an Edo font: the Latin alphabet drawn the way Japanese Edo-period signboards were lettered, in the Kantei-ryu style of kabuki posters and sumo rankings. Extremely fat brush strokes crowd each letter's box, counters shrink to slits, every stroke enters with an angled brush cut and tucks inward, and fine dry-brush whiskers trail from some ends. A Japanese style font for restaurant signs, festival posters, tees and logos.

What is Edo Moji?
Edo moji (江戸文字) is the family of lettering painted on Edo-period Japanese signboards: Kantei-ryu for kabuki theatres, sumo-ji for sumo ranking sheets, yose-ji for storytelling halls. The fat strokes fill the space on purpose, a wish for a packed house. Edo Moji brings that brushwork and density to the Latin alphabet.
Is this the Kantei-ryu font?
Kantei-ryu is a style of lettering, not a single trademarked font. Edo Moji is our tribute to Kantei-ryu and the other Edo lettering styles, made for Latin letters and numbers. It does not write kanji or kana.
How is it different from other Japanese brush fonts?
Brush Ink Asian is everyday shop-sign brushwork with open letters, and Battle Brush Shodo is fast, slashing calligraphy. Edo Moji is drawn rather than swept: swollen strokes, nearly closed counters and letters packed into one block.
Can I use it for a samurai or Japanese-themed design?
Yes. It suits Japanese-themed titles, ramen and izakaya signs, festival posters and tees. If you want the slashing look of a katana stroke for a samurai design, Battle Brush Shodo is the better fit.
