Cursed text is ordinary writing that has been buried under so many stacked marks it looks corrupted — the kind of text that seems to be leaking out of its own line. This cursed text generator builds that effect from Unicode combining marks and lets you pick how far it goes, from a light shimmer to completely unreadable. Type below, choose an intensity, then copy and paste the result. For the classic overflowing version specifically, see the Zalgo Text Generator.

Cursed text is not a font. It is your normal letters with Unicode combining marks stacked on top of, through and under them, so a ten-letter word can easily become sixty or more characters. That single fact explains almost every problem people hit with it. Character limits count each mark, so heavily cursed text gets truncated or rejected outright by username and display-name fields. Some apps normalise text before storing it, which strips the marks and delivers your message perfectly clean. And because the marks stack vertically, they can spill into the lines above and below — some platforms clip that overflow, some do not. These behaviours vary by app and change over time, so treat this as what to expect rather than a guarantee, and test in the place you actually intend to post.
Plenty of cursed text generators will curse your text. Almost none tell you how to undo it, which is the more common problem — someone sends you a wall of corrupted characters and you need the actual words.
What works:
- Paste it into a browser address bar or a plain search field. Many of these strip combining marks and leave the base letters.
- Paste into a code editor or a plain-text note, which often shows you the letters separated from their marks.
- Retype it. For a short username this is genuinely the fastest route.
What does not work: changing the font. The marks are characters, not formatting, so no amount of restyling removes them.
Worth knowing before you post: because the marks count as characters, cursed text is often rejected by the exact fields people most want to use it in.
