A large full-bloom peony with layered ruffled petals sits at the centre. A muscular snake wraps around it in two clear spiral coils. Its head rises at the upper right with an open mouth, a forked tongue and a fierce eye. Its tail curls out at the lower left. The scales are large and simple, drawn as bold overlapping crescents. Black shading grades smoothly from the belly and the shadow side into the ground. Three or four cherry blossoms with five notched petals, plus a few falling petals, are spaced around the peony and the upper coil. Curling wind bars and stylised clouds drift behind the upper part. Crested waves with claw-like foam tips rise at the lower part, filling the gaps around the motif and fading out softly toward the edges so the design has a tapered, forearm-shaped silhouette. Every shape has thick, confident black outlines of even weight. Gaps between elements stay open and generous, with no tiny crowded detail, so an artist can trace and stencil it easily. Colour: the snake in deep jade green with a pale cream belly, the peony in vermilion red and peony pink with cream highlights, cherry blossoms in pale pink, the waves and wind bars in indigo blue, and small golden yellow accents on the peony centre and the snake's eye. Evenly lit and flat, with no cast shadows, no glow and no photorealism. Leave a clear margin around the whole design.
